Homemade Plant-Based Molasses Granola

Homemade Plant-Based Molasses Granola

Granola is an excellent addition to a weekday breakfast - it can easily be put on top of yogurt, smoothie bowls, or eaten on its own as a snack. Buying premade granola can be very costly though, and often contains high levels of sugar. You can make your own granola with just a few ingredients and customize it to your liking. We love using our dark molasses as the sweetener for its health benefits and the complexity it adds to the granola. Measurements are included in this recipe, but it is all an estimate - adjust the ratios of ingredients to your taste. The only important factor is making sure that all of your oats and nuts are coated in the wet mixture of coconut oil and molasses.

40 Minutes

  • 4-5 cups of rolled oats
  • 1/2 extra virgin cup coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup Dukkan dark Molasses
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp flaky salt
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds
  • 1/4 cup walnuts
  • 1/4 cup hazlenuts
  • 1/3 cup cacao nibs
  • 1/3 cup flaxseed meal (optional)
  • 1/3 cup chia seeds (optional)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Step 1:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2:

In a large bowl, mix your wet ingredients until combined. Add all the dry ingredients and combine thoroughly.

Step 3:

Lay the mixture on a baking sheet and bake for 20-22 minutes, turning it halfway through so that the granola starts to change color, but not solidify and bake evenly. Let cool completely before adding flaxseed, cacao nibs, chia seeds, small pieces of your favorite dried fruit such as apricots, figs or dates.

Step 4:

Serve atop Greek yogurt, a smoothie bowl, or eat as a snack on its own. Yum! Top with one of our jams for an extra sweet treat.
